The CIC Mid-Year Express Entry report reveals new beneficial facts!

The CIC mid year express entry report has managed to make those individuals happy, who are either in the pool or planning to prepare a profile soon. The new insights into the Canadian express entry selection system has done this. According to the new rules that been implemented since the first of January this year, the future rounds for the express entry pool are the major sources, for annual Canadian immigration levels to bet by individuals.

An increase in the number of invites
This also marks the reduction of older entries, referring to the applications made before January 1st 2015. The report implies that the number of invitations to apply will now increase in the near future. Earlier too, a large number of candidates have been invited because of their valid job offers, that are in accordance with Labor Market Impact Assessment [LMIA].
It was especially the situation during the earlier draws, making Canada a popular country for hosting invited candidates. As much as 85.5 % of the invited candidates reside in Canada. Most of the invitations are sent to candidates invited are from India and Philippines. The invitations to candidates from these countries are so high that they make up to one fifth of the invited candidates.
Situation in the past

The first 11 draws were not very successful as 29.4% of the invited individuals did not have a job offer to support them. Only 65% of them had qualifying job offers. Finally the report confirms that the country aims to take only those individuals into the pool who meet the labor requirement of Canada. Therefore it is the best time to apply for the Canadian immigration process.

Singapore to Review Immigration Rules

Singapore now has a different approach towards immigrants from the other parts of the world. The immigrants are being kept at a distance stating a number of identity problems of the country.
The above information was confirmed by the Prime Minister of the country Lee Hsien Loong. Among many problems caused by the immigrants, the Prime Minister stated infrastructure, space and carrying capacity of Singapore as the major ones.

Their Major Concern
While acknowledging the fact that immigrants can bring immense improvement in the country’s economy, Mr Lee Hsien Loong is more concerned about the social pressures and other problems at the moment. He hopes to see a day when there can be a balance between the two, without having to compromise on any of them. Unfortunately, until then, there seems to be no other way.

The Official statement
Speaking in this regard, the Singapore Prime Minister said,  “There are trade-offs. If we have no foreign workers, our economy suffers, our own lives suffer. We have a lot of foreign workers, the economy will do well, (but) we have other social pressures, other problems.”
Singapore has witnessed the lowest immigration in 2014, of only 26,000. This has been the case for a very long time. Unlike 2014, the year 2011 saw a greater number of immigrants that year as many as 80,000 came to Singapore. The country is hoping to solve the problem of overcrowding through this.

The Economic Benefits of Immigration

It is known to all that immigration can open up a lot of opportunities to people, than those available in their home country. But, very few know that a country welcoming the immigrants also benefits from this process. Most of these benefits of immigration fall in the economic category. To start with, a sudden increase in the availability of labour reduces the wages to a great extent.

The Benefits Reaped By America

As a result, a large amount of money of the home country is saved. In this regard, the United States of America saw a heavy inflow of labor in 19th century, to take up jobs in industrialization and electrification sector in the country. But soon, the inflow of labor experienced a severe blow in the year 1929 with the passing of the restrict immigration laws.
It is noted that when a country possesses the ability to manage labor inflow efficiently, it experiences a greater economic benefit than otherwise. Countries expand their productive capacity, when a large number of immigrants start coming in. Better productivity is a direct result of greater investment. The large number of working labor, encourage investors to put their money in the development of the host country.
In the last 50 years, once again, the United States of America proved to be successful in making the best use of immigrants who were looking for brighter career opportunities outside of their home countries. USA’s move proved to be beneficial to both the immigrant and USA itself.
A reflection of this was seen in the period 1990-2010, when 30 percent of the country’s productivity is attributed to immigrants. Similarly in the year 2006 the country saw that, as much as 25 percent of the high tech companies in the U.S., are established by the immigrants in the country. The productive capacity of these establishments is not to be underestimated as they have been successful in making sales of over a million dollars.
The contribution that the immigrants are able to make, for the economic development of countries like the United States of America, is because of the high level of education the immigrants have acquired. This is something the natives have not been very successful with. It is commonly observed in the USA that the immigrants take up those jobs that the natives do not take or are not interested in. As a result, this makes sure that there is no lack of service, despite less number of takers within the country.

Australia Arranges a Help Desk For International Students

Australia really seems to be concerned about the international students who come to the country, to begin an exceptional educational career. As an outcome of this, a help desk has been launched to help solve the problem that students face on arrival. The desk is at the Sydney International Airport to help those students who arrive in Australia for the first time. It is called the International Student Airport Welcome Desk.
Knowing the hassles of first time students, after arriving at the Sydney International airport, gave rise to this unique and useful idea. Speaking about the same Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres, said, “Recent surveys have highlighted that the first 24 hours is crucial to students forming their perspectives about studying and living in New South Wales. Experience shows implementing simple gestures, like a welcome desk, encourages students to return as ambassadors for the State and supports further growth in the sector.”
He added “The International Student Airport Welcome Desk serves as a gateway, whether students are arriving in Sydney or travelling on to regional New South Wales to their education institution.” The unique facility to foreign students is financed by the   by StudyNSW, Destination NSW, and key education partners including the NSW Department of Education, TAFE NSW, English Australia and all NSW universities.
The Australian welcome desk also receives support from the Council of International Students Australia (CISA). For the convenience of the students, the help desk is made available directly opposite Arrivals Hall A in T1 at Sydney International Airport. It is efficiently managed by dedicated student volunteers.

UK government announces new steps against illegal immigrants

London (AFP) - Britain's government promised new measures Monday to crack down on illegal immigrants by making landlords evict them, as the Calais migrants crisis continued to dominate the headlines.Landlords in England who do not remove people with no right to remain in Britain, or do not check their immigration status before renting them a property, could be jailed for up to five years.
The move, announced by Communities Secretary Greg Clark, is set to be included in a new Immigration Bill that parliament will debate in the coming months.
In addition, 100 more guards are to be placed on duty at the terminal in Calais, while UK Border Force officials are to begin working inside the control room of the cross-channel Eurotunnel from Monday.
"I think we have got a grip on the crisis. We saw a peak last week, since when the number of illegal migrants has tailed off," said Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond after a meeting of the government's emergency COBRA committee.
"We have taken a number of measures in collaboration with the French authorities and Eurotunnel which are already having an effect and over the next day or two I would expect to have an even greater effect."
Immigration is one of the most sensitive issues in British politics and Prime Minister David Cameron's centre-right government has been battling to bring the numbers down for years.
Images of migrants trying illegally to cross the Channel Tunnel from France to Britain have fuelled calls from political opponents for ministers to do more and Cameron has warned that the situation could last all summer.
In a joint editorial for this week's Sunday Telegraph, the French and British interior ministers warned that "our streets are not paved with gold" as Cameron's government seeks to dispel any perception that migrants have a soft landing in Britain.
Migrants in Calais made around 1,700 attempts overnight Sunday to cross, according to French police sources, a major increase on the past few nights when there was only a few hundred.
Last week, Britain pledged 10 million euros ($11 million) to improve fencing around the Eurotunnel rail terminal in Coquelles, outside Calais, as well as promising more sniffer dog teams.
Cameron's government has previously announced that the new Immigration Bill will also include giving police the power to seize wages earned by illegal immigrants.

Immigration Reform 2015: Immigrant Green Card Approvals Outnumber Population Of Iowa, New Hampshire And South Carolina Combined

A report from the U.S. Senate’s Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest says immigration officials by 2025 could approve an estimated 10.5 million visas that allow immigrant workers and foreign students to live and work in the country. That's more than the total populations of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, according to the right-wing site Breitbart News, which exclusively obtained the Senate report.
Federal policy allows officials to grant approximately 1 million new Legal Permanent Resident status cards -- known as green cards -- every year. Department of Homeland Security statistics show that 5.25 million immigrants had been given that status in the last five years. Recent polling, meanwhile, shows a majority of U.S. citizens want lawmakers to reduce those numbers drastically.
Since the 1950s, visa programs have accounted for the overwhelming majority of immigration to the country for workers and students, as well as refugees and people are seeking political asylum. Critics of U.S. immigration policies have said visa programs let corporations substitute lesser-skilled and lower-paid foreigners for unemployed Americans, which has enraged people who oppose mass immigration to the U.S.
“The last four decades have witnessed a dramatic change in the wage and employment structure in the United States,” Eric Gould, an economics professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., has said, according to Breitbart News. “The overall evidence suggests that the manufacturing and immigration trends have hollowed out the overall demand for middle-skilled workers in all sectors, while increasing the supply of workers in lower-skilled jobs. Both phenomena are producing downward pressure on the relative wages of workers at the low end of the income distribution.”
Critics also blast green cards for letting immigrants claim government benefits they believe should be exclusively for U.S. citizens. Those benefits include work authorization, federal welfare programs, Social Security and Medicare benefits. Green cards also allow immigrants to apply for citizenship and aid the immigration of family members and elderly relatives from their home nations.

South Africa to Issue Tourist Visa to Indians in Just 5 Days

South Africa is issuing tourist visas to Indian applicants within 5 working days. In the recent past, tourist inflows from India slightly reduced due to few visa restrictions that were introduced.
Now, once an application is submitted, it takes only five days to verify the application and complete other checks required for visa issuance. So, Indian tourists applying for a South African tourist visa can expect their visas in 5 working days.
This also comes as a measure to restore the tourism sector of the country that was affected due to Ebola in the African countries. Though South Africa remained unaffected by the outbreak, the tourism industry recorded a low turnout of tourists.
South Africa records the highest tourist inflow from the UK with 500,000 each year, and India stands 5th with 133,000 in 2013. However, it is expected that India would become the top tourist sourcing country to South Africa by 2020.
The connectivity is an issue for now, because there are not many flights from major Indian cities. Most flights are routed through Seychelles, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. So the respective ministry is also trying to improve the connectivity between the countries for better and easier travel experience.
